Cannot get around this error: there should be two blank lines after a function or call

import datetime

def my_func():
    return ('It ran!')

sizes = ['small', 'medium', 'large']

class Tree:
    def __init__(self, size, characteristics):
        self.size = size
        self.charac = characteristics
        self.roots = True
        self.leaves = 0
    def grow_leaves(self):
        self.leaves += 1

Tree(sizes[0], {'name': 'Tulip Tree'})

These challenges are a nightmare because they have to be so specific about following PEP rules so one thing could be confusing with another i.e. taking precedence over.

Might this one be because you have 3 empty lines after

def my_func():
    return ('It ran!')

in your code? Try reducing one to try to get it to 2 lines.
