CSS CSS Basics (2014) Basic Selectors Pseudo-Classes

Challenge Task 1 of 3 Use the pseudo-class selector that targets default, unvisited links. Set their color to orange

a : link { color: orange; } This is not working for some reason, I even tried it without spaces. Can someone please help?

That's odd, because if I remove the space between the a and the colon after pasting your code... it passes! Other than that one single space, I see no fault in your code and it passes for me.

I think it is the space before link that is the problem. Try a:link{color:orange}

Kristopher Van Sant Sorry, in the OP it said he'd tried it without spaces. I'm trying to find a reason why it'd not pass when the space is removed.

Hi Jennifer Nordell I did notice that as well. By moving Bryan's answer to the answer section I wasn't insinuating your answer was incorrect or that his was correct. Just trying to encourage better Community habits. :)

Regarding the issue Jeremy is facing, I'm wondering which spaces he removed. It looks like, from the two answers he provided, he tried removing the space between the a and the colon. Once he removed that space, did he try removing the space between the colon and link as well? Once both of those spaces are removed it should pass the task. If it still doesn't my guess would be to refresh the browser and try again.
