Code Editor

Please i would like someone to recommend a better code editor between Sublime and Atom.I learned one is paid and the other is free(i don't really know which one is) I tried downloading Atom one time and saw the "16 Bit " download option. Now I don't know if it will cause my system to lag or slow down . I'm not really familiar with system and software compatibility and all. can someone help me out?

Hi Felix,

For Sublime you have to pay and Atom is free, I have it on my pc but not use it so much as I don't think is for me. I do not know what to say about your downloading problem but I can recommend you some code editors that I use and I like.

  1. Brackets - it is free and I love it because it is easy to use, especially if you are new to this. When I 1st started I used this and I am using it since then most of the time...it has some nice and simple features :).

  2. Visual Studio Code - I have got it recently and I like to work with it too but not as much. It is free too and has really really nice features and also I have heard that developers used it the most in 2016 - 2017.

My advice to you, is to try and then decide which one is the best for you :) .

Hope this helped. Happy coding :)

Thanks again Rusu. I dn't really have a download problem it's just that i don't know the meaning of the "16 bit installer" tag on the Atom download link. Secondly, I will really appreciate if you can share a link i can download the Visual studio code

Thanks. I appreciate the help

sublime is one where you technically have to pay but you can get away with not paying buy clicking the cancel when it pops up that you can pay to use it. from what i have heard most people do that. i like sublime text as an editor and ill be paying when i have the money. it's a very good text editor and when you enable some of the packages that go along with it it is very handy with shortening your typing when coding

I think it really just comes down to personal preference. I love sublime text and it works for me but I know that Atom is good as well.
