Compile error that I cant no identify !

I have been going through several forums but couldnt find what is wrong with me coding.

String firstExample = "hello"; if (firstExample.equals(secondExample)) { console.printf("first is equal to second"); } String secondExample = "hello"; String thirdExample = "HELLO";

// I have imported a java.io.Console for you, it is named console. 
String firstExample = "hello";
if (firstExample.equals(secondExample)) {
  console.printf("first is equal to second");
}
String secondExample = "hello";
String thirdExample = "HELLO";

The if statement goes after all the strings. Hope this helps!
