Create a ListView with a POST code challenge - can't save a valid record and respond with 201 status code.

Hi, I'm trying to do this code challenge, and after having watched the video many times, I still can't get this to work. It must be something stupid, but I can't see what I'm doing wrong. Could someone point me in the right direction? The code challenge says: Bummer! Your method didn't save a valid record! Your method didn't respond with a 201 status code!

scorekeeper/views.py
from rest_framework.response import Response
from rest_framework.views import APIView

from . import models
from . import serializers

class GameListCreate(APIView):
    def get(self, request, format=None):
        games = models.Game.objects.all()
        serializer = serializers.GameSerializer(games, many=True)
        return Response(serializer.data)

    def post(self, request, format=None):
        serializer = serializers.GameSerializer(data=request.data)
        serializer.is_valid(raise_exception=True)
        serializer.save()
        return Response(serializer.data, status=status.HTTP_201_CREATED)

edit: after searching around a bit more i found this answer...

You need to import status from rest_framework import status

I fought with this quiz for an hour. Finally completed it with the following code:

def post(self, request, format=None):
        serializer = serializers.GameSerializer(data=request.data)
        serializer.is_valid(raise_exception=True)
        serializer.save()
        return Response(serializer.data, 201)

I'm pretty sure that hard coding the response status code like that is just cheating the tests used to check the answer? If someone could post the 'actual answer' i would be grateful because i don't see anything wrong with his original code.
