Declare another variable,naming this one camel-cased version of lastname to store the users last name into this new var

String firstName = console.readLine("What's your name? "); String lastname =console.printf = ("Hello my name %s");

IO.java 
// I have imported java.io.Console for you.  It is a variable called console.
String firstName = console.readLine("What's your name?  ");
String lastName = console.printf= ("Hello my name is %s \n");

You are trying to use a printf statement to store input from the user, it needs to look more like your first line.

It needs to look like this:

String firstName = console.readLine("What is your first name?\n");
String lastName = console.readLine("What is your last name?");

when you want too store the lastName in the variable you do this
String lastName = console.readLine("What's your  last name?  ");


but when you want to print the lastName name you use the console.
console.printf= ("Hello my name is %s \n" , lastName);
