Django basics: urlpatterns = [ url(r'^$', views.hello_world), ] is showing as error may I know where is the fault.

You don't seem to be putting in the correct URL. The instructions specifically ask for the index
but you are routing to hello_world
? The syntax is correct, but the URL is not. It should be:
urlpatterns = [
url(r'^$', views.index),
]
