Float issue

Hi, I do not understand the issue that if a block element contains floated children, it height will collapse. Is someone able to give a concrete example? Thanks in advance!

If a parent element (with display:block) only contains floated elements, the floated elements does not exist to its parent element, so they appear invisible to the parent. This is why the block element (parent) collapses when it only contains floated elements.
