Java Java Basics Getting Started with Java Strings, Variables, and Formatting

having difficulty defining a string variable. the main method I created to put my variable is being rejected as an error

I must be missing some kind of import. i will go back and review the video.

Hi John, try wrapping your name around double quotes and it should work i.e. String firstName = "John";

You can also get rid of the public static void main method that surrounds it as I think it's also included in the editor, so all you'll need is that one line:

String firstName = "John";
