Java Java Basics Getting Started with Java IO

Hello. Can anyone tell me what the problem is with my code?

Here is the compiler error:

JavaTester.java:128: error: cannot find symbol console.readLine = firstName; ^ symbol: variable readLine location: variable console of type MockConsole 1 error

IO.java
// I have imported java.io.Console for you. It is a variable called console.
String firstName = ("James");
console.readLine = firstName;

Hey James, if I'm not mistaken the problem is that you are using console.readLine(which is to get input) and you want to out put the sting you made. Try using: console.printf( "%s", firstName);

hope this helps man

Thank you Isaac :)

You need to use console.printf instead of console.readLine
