Right now you do have an associative array but it's a little strange where you defined the key as the person's name and it's equal to an array that has a value of the person's name. If you format following the example below it should help you move towards the next step.

<?php
$contacts = array(
    array('name' => 'Alena Holligan'),
    array('name' => 'Dave McFarland'),
    ...
);

Later on you can add to the associative array for each person to add their e-mail address.

Like Corey says, this is how you can start the multidimensional associative array:

$contacts = array ( array("name" => "Alena Holligan", "email" => "alena.holligan@teamtreehouse.com"),
                    array("name" => "Dave Mcfarland", "email" => "dave.mcfarland@teamtreehouse.com"),
);

Once you have that working, I can show you how to access the variables in display part of the question. Just ask me when you're ready.

than you both u r legends :D :D ... it wors with me now :D

Yah!! Glad to hear that :)
