help with this,console.printf??

how to print fistname here, the format looks correc.

IO.java
// I have imported java.io.Console for you. It is a variable called console.
String firstName =  console.readLine("Enter your first name:  ");
String lastName =  console.readLine("Enter your last name:  ");
console.printf = ("firstName: %s",firstName);

The last line in your code is incorrect. You have console.printf = (...stuff....) but console.printf is a method and the (...stuff...) inside the parentheses is the argument to the printf method. There should not be an equal sign between the method and it's argument.

Your code should look like:

console.printf("First name: %s", firstName);
