Your code is extremely close, the issue is that you use the = operator instead of ==.

= is used to assign a value, == is used to compare values. Since you are comparing barCount to 0 the == operator is the one that you have to use.

So if you change your code to this:

public boolean isBatteryEmpty() {
    return barCount == 0;
}

Then you will pass the first task.

Hi Kyle,

The code challenge wants you to return 0 in your new method, but only if the bar count is actually zero.

So you should test the value of the barCount variable.

 public boolean isBatteryEmpty() {
    if (barCount == 0) {
    return barCount = 0;
    }
 }

Rememer when testing conditions you use the == equality operator instead of = which is assignment! :-)
