How do you design a Shopify website for a client?

I have a client that wants me to become familiar with Shopify so I can build him an E-commerce website. Is there any way to design on Shopify for free? Also, can the client add me as an admin to his Shopify page so I can edit his?

Everything you try to accomplish is possible.

Shopify has its own markup language, similar to html and xml, for building custom webshops.

As far as customizing Shopify sites, you have more than one options.

  • You can use free themes, and customize them
  • You can build your own themes (this requires more work)
  • You can buy premium themes. Most probably you can customize those as well, it may depends on licenses.
