How does the techdegree work?

Is it self-paced learning? meaning i can complete web development techdegree in 48hrs without any locked content holding me back? Or how about mentors and graders? Do i have to wait a 5-7 days to have my content approved before moving on to the next lesson or next project?

Realistically is the web development techdegree elongated from a few days of learning to a few months?

How has the content improved or been updated, with the fullstack techdegree? With React?

Is the treehouse partner program still available for awarding diversity students? Is it free, how do you find candidates?

Hi Tommy,

I have done the frontend techdegree last year and completed about half of it.

About the curriculum: You can actually click to see the curriculum for each techdegree here: https://teamtreehouse.com/techdegree I think they have changed it so you have to download it if you want see all details but you can definetely easily check it out.

About "content locks": None of the content of each techdegree is locked. You have access to the complete content right from the beginning. BUT you can only submit one project per week. Which means for example for the frontend techdegree you need minimum nine weeks (= 9 projects) - if you really manage to complete a project every week (which is really ambitious).

If you have a lot of prior knowledge then maybe the first two or three projects you will be a bit quicker to manage. But as soon as there is new stuff to learn and use in the project it will probably take longer then a week. Dont expect yourself to make it in the minimum time - it's a LOT to learn and practice.

When I was doing it I really enjoyed it. The projects are great challenging experiences. And the techdegree community in slack is always very helpful.

About the fullstack techdegree: In the curriculum React is included.

And generally: Courses in Treehouse get updated regularly when they are outdated.

What about just checking it out for a week? As fars as I know if you haven't started any techdegree you can check it out for a week.

Happy coding, Nils

Thanks for the feedback Nils, i hope to hear from a lot more students who experienced the techdegree.

I would like to know more about the Fullstack techdegree and how competitive it is, whens the last time they updated the content and improved to resolve frequently asked questions.

My hope is that the curriculum/content is well prepared to avoid general confusion and needless wasted hours, will i have to find external resources to supplement the curated material witihin the techdegree? What are the chokepoints for students? How has treehouse navigated or restructured the curriculum to account for their material?
