How to do this?

Hi.

I tried adding a second inner array, with the key being string 'name' and the value being the actual name. I'm not sure where I've gone wrong.

I'd appreciate any help.

index.php
<?php
//edit this array
$contacts = array('Alena Holligan', 'Dave McFarland', 'Treasure Porth', 'Andrew Chalkley',
              array(
                    'name' => 'Alena Holligan',
                'name' => 'Dave McFarland',
                'name' => 'Treasure Porth',
                'name' => 'Andrew Chalkley',
                )
                        )

echo "<ul>\n";
//$contacts[0] will return 'Alena Holligan' in our simple array of names.
echo "<li>Alena Holligan : alena.holligan@teamtreehouse.com</li>\n";
echo "<li>Dave McFarland : dave.mcfarland@teamtreehouse.com</li>\n";
echo "<li>Treasure Porth : treasure.porth@teamtreehouse.com</li>\n";
echo "<li>Andrew Chalkley : andrew.chalkley@teamtreehouse.com</li>\n";
echo "</ul>\n";

Hi Sean

What the question needs you to do is to replace the original array with an associative one.

You were nearly there but each new associative array needs to be a separate array within the $contacts[] array.

Unsurprisingly, the next task will ask you to add in the email addresses to the new arrays, which should be easier now.

<?php
//edit this array
$contacts = array(
 array(
    "name"  =>  "Alena Holligan"
  ),

  array(
    "name"  =>  "Dave McFarland"
  ),

  array(
    "name"  =>  "Treasure Porth"
  ),

  array(
    "name"  =>  "Andrew Chalkley"
  )
);

echo "<ul>\n";
//$contacts[0] will return 'Alena Holligan' in our simple array of names.
echo "<li>". $contacts[0]['name'] . " :  alena.holligan@teamtreehouse.com</li>\n";
echo "<li>". $contacts[1]['name'] . " :  dave.mcfarland@teamtreehouse.com</li>\n";
echo "<li>". $contacts[2]['name'] . " :  treasure.porth@teamtreehouse.com</li>\n";
echo "<li>". $contacts[3]['name'] . " :  andrew.chalkley@teamtreehouse.com</li>\n";
echo "</ul>\n";

?>

Hope that helps!

Niki
