I believe I am targeting the span nested in the header but I am still getting an incorrect message.

Hi Max,

I believe that this task asks you to create a selector that show the relationship with the header, which in your case would be:

header span {
    font-size: 26px;
}

Just not to get you confused, I'd like to expand a bit on this topic by pointing out that in your case creating a class (.bob) for the span element is also a correct way to set the font-size, but the condition of this exercise asks you to indicate the descendant -cy of the header element, which is closely related to the topic of css specificity. It's another way of selecting elements in CSS by showing the direct path to nested html elements.

Imagine you have this HTML structure:

<div>
    <ul>
          <li>
               <span>Item</span>
         </li>
   </ul>
</div>

You can select span element by specifying the descendant-related path by:

div ul li span {
      font-size: 26px;
     }
