I dont get I tryed answer B and C but its not correct.

I dont get I tryed answer B and C but its not correct. Maybe somebody can explain it to me.

This quiz has 5 questions so it would help if you quote the question itself. Also, the quiz might randomize the choices so it would be better to indicate the values instead of the choice letters.

But If venture a guess, the question that is most likely to cause confusion is the one asking for the median in a set of grades having 30 As, 10 Bs, 8 Cs, and 2 Ds. The thing to remember about median is that it is the value in the middle of the set, not the average value of the set.

So in this set, there's an even number of items so there will be 2 "middle" values. But since 30 of the 50 items are "A", then both "middle" values will be "A", and therefor the median will be "A".

If we write out the entire set in sorted order:

A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A B B B B B B B B B B C C C C C C C C D D
                                                ^ ^
                                  these are the two middle values

And since both values in the middle are the same, we don't need to average them. The median is just one of those values.
