20,008 PointsI think each treehouse video shouldn't be more than 5 minutes long
If you need to split just a bit longer, please do.
I think that if a video is more than 5 minutes long, in certain topics it might become too heavy or to containing for many viewers. I am not saying that on each such video (length > 5 minues). I really don't,but I do think you guys should do best to avoid passing the 5 minute length for each video (unless it's a workshop or a conference).
There are sometimes very long videos (in comparison to many others here) which are 11 or 12 minute long videos and in certain cases (like in a complex topic or when a teacher talks so fast (and lowering the speed isn't very efficient has it can cause sound problems), so that the whole lesson becomes quite undidactic.
I really encourage the Treehouse team to do what they can not to pass the 5 minutes to ensure hightest level of didacticacy in this variable of video-length (I emphasis again that I talk only on courses and not on workshops or confrences).
I don't want to give particular examples but I felt this in a most frequent way in a few advanced PHP courses and One MySQL course.

Treehouse TeacherThanks for the feedback Ben Aharoni. We strive to keep our videos as short as possible while still meeting our learning objectives. Sometimes it takes just a minute to get a learning objective across; sometimes 6 minutes. And sometimes it's a bit longer. We're aware that people's ability to focus and pay attention is limited, and that after a time, our minds wander. In addition, it's possible to put too many ideas into a single video: these leads to videos being both too long, and covering too much information for a student to take in. You'll notice that our Treehouse courses have evolved with time and that our newer courses tend to have shorter, more focused videos.
Thanks for being a Treehouse student!
