231,248 PointsHave you seen the short Introducing JavaScript course? It includes a project built on the Phaser library which is ideal for creating retro-style games.

5,707 PointsIf your game is not very sophisticated, like a point and click adventure, you might want to consider a WYSIWYG game engine like visionaire studio or shop around for one that fits your needs A lot of these programs have an interface for inserting code like c# or c++, but it's optional. Learning to code a game while also making content for the game is a huge long term project. If you want total freedom with a game that doesn't follow a formula, take a look here https://forums.penny-arcade.com/discussion/111583/what-is-the-best-language-for-a-2d-game
