What exactly is he accomplishing by indexing these values?

8,361 PointsThe way he is using the CHOOSE function, it is basically allowing him to quickly substitute in one of the listed values so he can do a hypothetical cost analysis. It may help to think of the values as items in a drop down list, but instead of selecting one of the items by clicking it, you are entering the index number for the item. The scenario he is using is probably not very realistic, as a real-world example would probably be more involved and have ranges of values that you are choosing from, and then they are probably being piped into another formula like SUM. Personally, I've never used the CHOOSE function, but I could see where it may have its uses.
