C# C# Basics (Retired) Perfect if / else if / else

If/else if/else C# activity error

Getting an error, unexpected ';' in this code, any thoughts on what's wrong?

string input = Console.ReadLine(); int temperature = int.Parse(input);

if (temperature < 21) { Console.WriteLine("Too cold!"); } else if (temperature <= 22) { Console.WriteLine("Just right."); } Else { Console.WriteLine("Too hot!"); }

Any help appreciated, thanks!

I'm not sure what the message is referring to, but I notice a few things that need fixing in the code:

  • Keywords in C# are case-sensitive. So Else probably will not work where else is expected.
  • Parentheses must be balanced. Your if statements have opens "(" but not closes ")".
  • When testing temperature, you probably want to compare it against some value.

So for examples on that last item, instead of:

if (temperature) { do something; }

You'd want something like:

if (temperature < 23) { do something; }
