Python Dates and Times in Python (2014) Where on Earth do Timezones Make Sense? Timezone Strings

I'm unsure of what object I'm assigning to pytz.timezone. If we are to make it whatever comes in as 'tz'....

I keep gettng tripped up inside of my function....trying to initiate converting 'starter':

import pytz

starter = pytz.utc.localize(datetime.datetime(2015, 10, 21, 23, 29))

def to_timezone(tz): starter = pytz.timezone('local') new_datetime = starter.astimezone(local) return new_datetime

I.e., how can one create the timezone object without hardcoding: eastern = pytz.timezone('US/Eastern')

tz is going to be a name, like 'US/Eastern'. Use that to make the timezone object, just like you did in your eastern example.
