ios with c#

I've been planning to go into app development. I've heard that with c# you can build apps for both ios and android, plus many other things. What I would like to know is if I can build anything with c#, or is there a limitation where I will have to use swift for certain ios apps? If you can, then why study swift at all, if you can be so flexible with c#?

Also, does anyone know of a future track for c# and possibly a techdegree?

I think Swift makes more sense to me when I compare it to what Apple developers were (and still are) using before Swift came along, which was Objective C. With Swift, Apple can make it easier to read and function faster than Objective C in time because it is their own language.

If you want to develop apps for multiple platforms then you are best off sticking to C#, if you want to concentrate solely on Apple development than definitely learn Swift, I think in time it will be the best language to develop Apple apps in. Just knowing a C based language means you will pick up other C based languages a lot easier, so you may look at Swift and realise it isn't that alien to C#.

Thank you, John. I need to develop apps for multiple plataforms, so I guess I will go with C#. I'm thinking of, after mastering C# to study swift anyways.
