JavaScript Property Access Expressions

I know that dot notation gives access to the properties of an object. But with the dot you connect many things and it is confusing me what it means.

For example the dot in "document.querySelector" I know you can select a dom element. But the meaning of dot here is like "access".

So what for dot is used to expect for accessing object properties?
