Would the courses about Wordpress count? That's a major function of Wordpress.

I am building a custom site. Can Wordpress plugins be used for custom sites? Can the plug ins be modified?

You'd need to consider what "custom" features you need. There are so many plug-ins available for Wordpress you might find some to do nearly everything you want. And the advanced courses teach you how to customize it yourself.

And you might not need it. I'm always overwhelmed when I look at the catalog of available plug-ins. There's just so much out there ready-to-run.

And if you'd rather learn to develop a server app with a forum yourself, there's certainly other courses here that would help. I only thought of Wordpress as it would be a quick path to that capability.
