mknod default mode

I typed help(mknod) on my ubuntu installation of python and the help documentation says the default parameters are:

mknod(path, mode=384, device=0, *, dir_fd=None)

Is the mode same as the POSIX octal permissions? I'm not sure what 384 is in octal...
