multi-dimension colour gradient

can I make a background changes from top to bottom (black to white) and at the same time left to right (black to dark blue)?

You can create layered effects by using multiple gradients, and making at least some of the colors in each upper layer at least partly transparent using the "rgba" function. For example:

.layers {
  background-image: linear-gradient(to right, rgba(0,0,0,0), navy),
                    linear-gradient(black , white);
}
