15,084 PointsPersonal Email = Greater SPAM Risk?
I read somewhere that when using Mailchimp, Constant Contact, etc., don't use a personal address, such as @gmail.com, as your sending address because it places you in greater risk of landing your campaign in users' spam folder.
The recommendation was to use an email account located at your domain.
Does mailing with a personal address really have a negative impact?

Treehouse Moderator 145,860 PointsHey Dan,
I feel if it's coming from a personal email, there is a greater chance of it ending up in either the SPAM folder, or just put into the Trash without even being opened. I know when I get an email from gmail, msn, hotmail, live, etc... if they are not from people I know or are in my address book, I don't even open them. I just "move to Trash." But, I also do this with Domain Specific emails if I am not expecting or personally dealing with the company/domain.
I guess it depends on the kind of communication you are doing. If you are unable to have a Domain Specific email, and you are worried about your communique ending up in SPAM, you could always just explain that to your clients and have them mark your email as safe and add to their address books.
:)
