Humphrey - you need to change the order of your last two lines around, so it is

from django.conf.urls import url

from . import views

urlpatterns = [
    url(r'writer/(?P<pk>\d+)/$', views.writer_detail),
    url(r'article/(?P<pk>\d+)/$', views.article_detail),
    url(r'', views.article_list),
]

I dont understand, why do we have to change the order ?

Thank you George Lambert, i realized later that it was the order of the urls that was making the code fail!!!
