Python

Python shopping_list, not displaying a print statement and counting my items.

So I followed the video step by step and in the section where the my print statement "print(Added! List has {} items.".format(len(shopping_list)))" runs it does not print in the program thus not counting my items or following the code. It feels like it is skipping the step entirely even though it's not suppose to. Here is my code, exactly from the video.....

Create a new empty list named shopping_list

shopping_list = []

Create a new function named add_to_list that declares a parameter named item.

def add_to_list(item):

#add item to the list

shopping_list.append(item)

#notify the user that item was added, and state the number of item in the list currently

print("Added! List has {} items.".format(len(shopping_list)))

def show_help():

print("What should we pick up at the store?")

print(""" Enter 'DONE' to stop adding items. Enter 'HELP' for this help. """)

show_help()

while True: new_item = input("> ")

if new_item == 'DONE': break elif new_item == 'HELP': show_help() continue

# Call add_to_list with new_item as an argument

add_to_list(new_item)

I figured out the issue with my program..... it was all an indentation issue. Even though the code was not wrong, my indentation was off by 2.... The program indented automatically by 2 instead of 4.
