Really down because want to do ux but have no degree

I really like the idea of being a ux designer, but everyone has told me that unlike being a developer, the ux world still expects you to have a college degree and thus it'd be better for me to chose either the front end or js techdegrees. Ugh. Just sucks because im not finding as much passion from coding.

justinsmoot A degree is always a nice thing to have, but there ARE companies out there that will hire you without one if you prove your value. Be really good at what you do and build up a portfolio and that will help a lot. I'm not going to say a degree doesn't sometimes give people an advantage, but it's not always a requirement. The UX/UI member on my team started with my company doing custodial work I believe? Then he studied and proved his capabilities and worked his way up to his position as our UX guy. Anything is possible, my advice is just that you find another way to stand out among the rest.
