10,483 PointsShould i buy Mac mini for web development?
Hi, Iām beginner in web development. Is it a good idea to buy mac mini late 2014 for full stack web development? Is it worth buying and is it enough for the kind of work that i'm doing and wanted to do in the server side (PHP)?
2,6 GHz dual-core Intel Core i5 -processor 8 Gt 1600 MHz DDR3 SDRAM Intel Iris Graphics 1 Tt HDD, 5400 rpm.

3,237 PointsI would advice you to spend the money on tech degree instead and first of all get yourself comfortable with web development, and after you have done some projects (which can be done on any kind of modern day pc as long as you have an active internet connection and will and passion to code).
I would suggest spending money on experience and you can always save it for future and buy latest mac if you really like it. Why go for something from 2014 when you can save for something latest :)

3,237 PointsAt this level, you can do pretty much any kind of project in a mid tier pc or laptop, and money you save now can be useful for future :) But you can try it out for sure, and if you feel comfortable using it then go for it and in the end it's not the machine but our skills and will which makes us go forward. Good luck on your last semester ! I too recently graduated and now doing full stack track on Treehouse, It's really fun and Techdegree is also on my list but maybe after a few months :)

4,582 PointsIf you are going to get into app dev apple is the way to go i have a mac mini base 4 gig ram 1.6 ghz and the 2009 imac with 8 gigs ram and 256 mb gpu and the simulator runs better than on mac mini. Cost used 350$ Xcode is also much more elegant than Android studio...

I'm planning to buy a monitor for my laptop, but the devil started to whisper, why not to have Mac mini when I can pay it in monthly payments :) so for that reason I asked, does it worth and is it enough for the kind of work that i'm doing and wanted to do in the server side? and about the Tech-degree It's on my list as well, but i'm in the last semester and school taking the most time, I barely can code/study 2-3 hours in week days. weekends is pure html, css, js :)
