SQL Basics

We're back in the sports team database. There's a results table with the columns id, home_team, home_score, away_team, away_score and played_on . Find all the matches in the results table where "Hessle" was playing away as the away team and if they played on or after October 1st 2015. Date format is "YYYY-MM-DD".

Below is the code that I have used.

SELECT id, home_team, home_score, away_team, away_score, played_on FROM results WHERE away_team = "Hessle" AND played_on >= "2015-10-01";

id home_team home_score away_team away_score played_on 4 Mosborough 6 Hessle 18 2015-10-10

SQLite will accept either kind of quotes (" or ').

You are correct that the challenge expects all columns to be represented by * instead of naming them individually.

Hi Zach,

If I remember correctly, SQL date criteria uses single instead of double quotes. For example,

SELECT * FROM results WHERE away_team = "Hessle" AND played_on >= '2015-10-01';

Hi Christopher,

Thanks a lot for your answer. I have find out the correct answer for the quiz.

I have to use SELECT * instead of SELECT id, home_team etc to get the correct answer even though I have include all the columns. Thanks alot for your help.
