General Discussion

Thoughts about AnitaB Apprenticeship Pathway Program (APP)? How hard is it to get in, what is it like, is it worth it?

Applicants who move forward in admissions process of the AnitaB's Apprenticeship Pathway Program have to complete the Treehouse TAP FSJS track, and that's 18 hours. Why do we have to do so much just to advance in the admissions process? What if we don't get in, or decide APP isn't for us? Isn't that 18+ hours of hard work possibly wasted?

How hard is it to get into APP? Do they accept most applicants who complete the 18-hour track? Are the 3-4 questions pretty easy and similar to the quizzes on the track?

Does anyone know about APP or have been through it? How was the student stage (Techdegree) and the apprentice part of it? Was the apprentice part online on Zoom or similar, and you studied Intuit-specific processes? Was 6 months pretty long for a program like this?

How many apprentices actually get a full-time software development position at intuit, and how was that? Do some apprentices get jobs at other companies or organizations? What exactly does this program prepare people for, since they study Intuit stuff during the apprentice stage? Can what they learn transfer to other companies or areas within tech? Do they earn a good salary and have rewarding careers after completing the program?

Hi treehouser9!

This is a new pilot program with AnitaB and Intuit. I would suggest reaching out to Mike McGee (mikem@anitab.org). Mike is Director of Special Projects at AnitaB and he will be the person best equipped to answer these types of questions.

Best of luck!

Lee

Thanks!
