Python Dates and Times in Python (2014) Where on Earth do Timezones Make Sense? Timezone Strings

Timezone string, timezone.py challenge.

Not sure what else I'm missing.

timezone.py 
import datetime

import pytz

starter = pytz.utc.localize(datetime.datetime(2015, 10, 21, 23, 29))

def to_timezone(Pacific):
    Pacific = pytz.timezone('US/ Pacific')
    return starter.astimezone(Pacific)

Hey Jake Williams, you’re really close. The assignment to Pacific is overwriting the argument passed in. The minimal fix is:

  • replace the string literal argument with the parameter name Pacific

Once this works, you might also want to consider alternative variable names for cleaner code readability. For example, the time zone string passed in might not be “Pacific”. Other variable name choices might be tzone_str and pytz_zone
