VS Code (Extension) Live Server

Does the extension for VS Code called Live Server by Rtwick Dey use NodeJS as its server? I noticed that the extension called for Node and now I can just right click on any HTML file and choose run in Live Server and it serves web pages. I bet there's a training video somewhere on Treehouse that shows how to run HTML/CSS/JS through a VS Code extension.
