You're defining "laps" as a regular variable, outside of the init, and then calling it later as "self.laps"

You just need to declare it in your init function

class RaceCar:
    def __init__(self, color=None , fuel_remaining=None, **kwargs):
        self.laps = 0
        self.color = color
        self.fuel_remaining = fuel_remaining

        for attribute, value in kwargs.items():
            setattr(self, attribute, value)
