What are some great APIs for a beginner to play with?

Hi everyone! My ultimate goal is to learn how to use the Fitbit API, but it requires more learning beyond where I've been (I thought jquery and ajax in the frontend js dev course would be all I needed).

So, apart from ramping up my knowledge with more courses under the JavaScript umbrella, what are some fun, fairly newbie-friendly APIs that I can create projects with that will stretch me to help me grow at the same time?

Twitter, Instagram, Spotify, Weather Underground, YouTube, Google Maps.

Building a weather app might be a good project for working with an API. Or you could experiment and build something with Google Maps; google maps might also be useful to integrate in an app that uses Fitbit API.
