Python Python Sequences Sequence Operations Creating Slices

What do I do here?

It keeps saying that I have the wrong values. But it says 3-5 and I am doing 3-5. So what is wrong?

slices.py
student_gpas = [4.0, 2.3, 3.5, 3.7, 3.9, 2.8, 1.5, 4.0]
sliced_gpas = student_gpas [3:5]

Hi Haasini,

Lists are zero-indexed in python, which means the first item in the list isn’t [1], it’s [0]. This also means that the third item is not [3], it’s [2]. Now the second number (5) in your code ([3:5]) is correct, but it’s correct because the slice includes every element up to the index listed after the first colon (but it doesn’t include the element at that index). So the fifth element in the index can be found at index 4, but if you made your second number (number after colon) 4, then the fifth element (3.9) wouldn’t be included in your sliced_gpas list.

I hope that explanation makes sense. If not, let me know.
