:bell: Hi, I got alerted by your tag. But I haven't taken this course yet myself.

However, I'll offer a guess based on unit test packages I've used for other languages. The "expected" is usually the way you let the system know what the "right" answer should be, and when it runs the test it compares the result to that value to determine the pass/fail status of the test.
