what format are date and time in?

Ho do I tell what format date and time are in, are they str?

The challenge expects a datetime object, so you don't have to deal with formatting. There's a method specifically for combining date and time objects into a datetime, combine.

For checking types you can use the built in functions type or isinstance. Though you won't need that for this challenge here's an example:

isinstance("", str)

This will return True.
