What is this asking for?

def iter(self): yield from self.slots

    def __init__(self, pattern=None):
        self.pattern = pattern

    def __str__(self):
        output = []
        for blip in self.pattern:
            if blip == '.':
                output.append('dot')
            else:
                output.append('dash')
        return '-'.join(output)


class S(Letter):
    def __init__(self):
         pattern = ['.', '.', '.']
         super().__init__(pattern)

   def __iter__(self):
    yield from self.slots

I'm not sure where you are getting self.slots from but the attribute pattern is what they are targeting here. If you re-read the question it says to put your new method under the class Letter, not the subclass. once you change those things around you shouldn't have any issues.

    yield from self.pattern
