Who is working hard? (Motivation)

Everybody keeps asking "How long will it take til I { am an expert| can get a job| am good enough}?"

I just wanna know who is working hard? Who is

-on here at 3am and woke up at 4am

-working until they know they've see they've done enough instead of waiting for someone else to tell them

who has looked at other people to see how many points they have and said "Oh so that's somebody's standard. Maybe that's what I need to do... at least."

I have 159 points, and I just saw a "Full Stack Java Developer" moderator with 131 000 points.

But I have points that Team Treehouse knows nothing about. And I know I will continue earning experience that has nothing to do with this point system.

I think how long it takes is up to you. When will you decide you've learned enough?

Maybe you realized the work doesn't stop. So if you really want to be good at this, then why are you wasting time asking how long it will take instead of working?

Maybe you just started and you needed to hear something like

"It took me 6 months to do", (random_persons_goal)

"I practiced for a year and got a job doing ", (random_persons_achievement)

"Assuming you work ", (number_of_hours), "a day, then it will take you ", (random_assessment_of_time), "to become good enough to ", (random_definition_of_good_at_programming)

When you know you want to be good at this and you know why, then you won't ask that question so often. You'll be too busy RingTFM.

So maybe instead of looking for the least amount of time that will motivate you to commit, you should try to get past that stage and ask "Do I want to do this?" and "Why?"

So who is working hard?
