In the video, why does the footer disappear from the bottom (in other words the footer's height reduces to zero) once the second row track is changed to minmax values and the viewport size is reduced by the user? Shouldn't the item's height stay static at 100px given this is the value assigned to the height in the grid-columns-rows property in the container?

Treehouse TeacherHey Matt Nickolls the footer is still there if you check out the project files. You just have to scroll down to see it since the main div has an fr value which makes it take up the remainder of the space
