10,403 PointsWhy is this unit test not working?
Please see the code...
from django.test import TestCase
from .models import Writer
class WriterModelTestCase(TestCase):
'''Tests for the Writer model'''
writer = Writer.objects.create(
name="Peter",
email="email@test.com",
bio="This is the bio"
)
self.assertIn(writer.email, writer.mailto())
from django.db import models
class Article(models.Model):
headline = models.CharField(max_length=255)
publish_date = models.DateTimeField()
content = models.TextField()
writer = models.ForeignKey('Writer')
def __str__(self):
return self.headline
class Writer(models.Model):
name = models.CharField(max_length=255)
email = models.EmailField()
bio = models.TextField()
def __str__(self):
return self.name
def mailto(self):
return '{} <{}>'.format(self.name, self.email)

18,380 PointsIt don`t pass because it is necessary to create methods inside de class. And more specifically it needs that the names of that methods start with test_, except for setUp and tearDown.
I rewrite your code a little.
class WriterModelTestCase(TestCase): '''Tests for the Writer model''' def setUp(self): self.writer = Writer.objects.create( name="Peter", email="email@test.com", bio="This is the bio" ) def test_email(self): self.assertIn(self.writer.email, self.writer.mailto())
Besides that in setUp method you define beforehand all the things you are going to need in your test methods.
Hope this help.

6,890 PointsYou just need to put your test case into a function/method.
from django.test import TestCase
from .models import Writer
class WriterModelTestCase(TestCase):
'''Tests for the Writer model'''
def test_email(self):
writer = Writer.objects.create(
name="Peter",
email="email@test.com",
bio="This is the bio"
)
self.assertIn(writer.email, writer.mailto())
